Albums LightGallery

Vendor: My UNA World
Module: nw_albums_lightgallery
Guide scope: 0.1.0 controls revision; checked 2 October 2026

Albums LightGallery adds an enhanced photo and prepared-video gallery to standard UNA Albums. It offers thumbnails, zoom, fullscreen and captions. The controls revision also provides rotation/flip, a manually started slideshow, displayed-photo download and sharing of UNA page links.

Requirements and installation

  1. Confirm standard Albums 15.x is installed and enabled.
  2. Back up the site.
  3. Stage the supplied installation ZIP at modules/newton/albums_lightgallery/.
  4. Install and enable Albums LightGallery through Studio's downloaded-app workflow.
  5. Open its Studio settings and enter a lightGallery key issued for your project.

A blank key leaves UNA's viewer in use. The package does not supply a purchased license. Choose the appropriate license/key with lightGallery. Its key is visible to the browser as required by the library.

Use Getting started for package/checksum guidance.

Check the viewer

Open a photo in an album. Test thumbnails, next/previous, zoom, fullscreen and close. Closing returns to the selected UNA media page.

Then test a mixed photo/video album, a member profile and the supported Timeline photo entry points. Direct video pages continue to use UNA's player; Timeline video entry points are outside the documented photo revision.

Check guest, owner and non-owner access to public and private albums. The gallery must respect UNA's media permissions.

Native fallback

The gallery uses prepared image/video files. It falls back to UNA for unsupported or not-ready items, inactive albums and larger-than-supported galleries. A request supports at most 500 items.

A prepared large photo can fill a missing browse-thumbnail slot. Missing video posters can disable the thumbnail strip. The module does not repair UNA transcoder or thumbnail problems.

Disable or uninstall

Disable the module in Studio to remove its injection; the configured key is retained for re-enabling. Uninstall removes its own records without deleting album media or editing Albums core PHP/JavaScript.

Refresh already-open pages after disabling or uninstalling because they may still contain previously loaded scripts.

Existing integrations

Do not install this standalone module over an older core-patched LightGallery pilot. That requires a separately verified migration. Do not assume an old backup contains stock Albums originals.

If opening fails, check the key, enabled Albums/module status, prepared-media availability and the reported request result. Confirm native UNA viewing still works.
